Inclusive Access FAQ
I didn’t get an email about my Inclusive Access course materials. Where can I find instructions and information?
All enrolled students receive an initial email before the course begins, unless they enrolled late. If you don’t see it, check your spam or trash folder. You can also view the list above to find the letter sent for your course.
How does Inclusive Access work and why is it beneficial?
Inclusive Access is a method of providing access to course materials when instructors are using interactive courseware platforms or eBooks in place of printed text. The program allows our campus to reduce student course materials costs in comparison to traditional print text and ensures that every student has easy access to the content by the first day of class. We have upgraded our course materials model to combine affordability and ease of access with 21st-century educational tools.
What are the consequences of opting in to Inclusive Access?
Students who want to opt-in to Inclusive Access do not need to do anything. The applicable charges are applied to the student account, and students have uninterrupted access to materials. Student accounts are charged shortly after the official add/drop date.
What happens if I opt-out of Inclusive Access?
Students who opt out before the deadline will not be charged for access to the materials. Since the materials required are listed as REQUIRED by the instructor, students are responsible for paying for the necessary access on their own, or they can opt back into the Inclusive Access program. Access to materials will be turned off after the trial period. Students who opt out of Inclusive Access may have no way to complete assignments.
How much does Inclusive Access cost?
The price varies depending upon the course materials chosen by the instructor, but most Inclusive Access prices are lower than the cost of printed materials or going directly to the publisher. On average, it is 50% to 70% off the cost of the printed textbook.
How will I get my access code?
If your instructor is using Inclusive Access, you are already enrolled. Instructions are located in your Canvas account on how to access the digital content. This information should be provided in the instructor’s syllabus.
How do I pay for my access?
Access is free until the Drop/Add date for the course. If you do not opt out of the program by the Drop/Add you will be charged the discounted price to your student account.
What does it mean to Opt Out?
If you do not wish to participate in the Inclusive Access program, you have until the Drop/Add date for your class to opt out of the program. Opt out procedures will be outlined in the initial email that you received at the start of the class. If you opt out by the deadline, access to the online content will be turned off and you will not be charged.
I opted out by mistake and then realized that I need access to my digital material. Can I opt back in?
Maybe. Simply email the Campus Store at bookstoreorders@wilmu.edu requesting that your access be reinstated and we will let you know if it is possible.
I did not opt out, but I did not register my access code or use the online platform. Will I still be billed?
Yes. All students who are enrolled in a course with Inclusive Access are automatically considered part of the program. To avoid being billed you must opt out online prior to the Drop/Add date.
I dropped the course. Do I still need to opt out?
Students who drop the course during the Drop/Add period will automatically be “opted out” and will not be billed.
I did not drop the course. What is your refund policy for Inclusive Access Course Material?
If you did not drop the course before the Drop/Add period ended, refunds for Inclusive Access Course Material are not available.
I accessed the Inclusive Access Course Material. Am I still eligible for a refund?
No, once Inclusive Access Course Material is accessed, refunds are not available unless you dropped the course before the Drop/Add period ended.
